ICRC Paid a Courtesy Call on LAC North West Zonal Office

The International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) paid a courtesy/ familiarization visit to Legal Aid Aid Council (LAC) North West Zonal office Kaduna on the 27th of May, 2021.
ICRC visit was to create a synergy with LAC in Kaduna state and to intimate the office about their activities, which include visits to correctional facilities and other detention centers. The essence of a visit to these detention centres is to monitor the conditions of the centers, to encourage and appreciate work done by the staff of the facilities, and urge them to do more.

The ICRC noted that they need to create a strong collaboration with LAC in order to achieve their mandate in the area of giving free legal services to detainees.

The ICRC used the opportunity of the visit to invite LAC in Kaduna state to a 2 day round table meeting with other stakeholders in Kaduna, which include; the Nigeria Correctional Service, the Central Investigation Department of the Nigeria Police Force, the Judiciary, and the Ministry of Justice.

The round table meeting will hold on the 29th and 30th of June, 2021.
The North West Zonal Director of LAC (Mr. Abubakar Ahmed) appreciated the visit and express the willingness of LAC to work with any Development Partner towards enhancing Access to Justice for the needy in our community.
At the meeting were Ms. Monica and Mrs. Bola Umar ( both from ICRC).
