DIRECTOR GENERAL LEGAL AID COUNCIL PAID A WORKING VISIT TO NASSARAWA STATE.
The Director General (DG) Legal Aid Council (LAC) paid a working visit to Nassaawa State on Monday the 23rd of October 2023.
In the course of the visit, the DG met with the Chief Judge Nassarawa State Hon. Justice Aisha B. Aliyu.
In the DG’s address to the CJ, he briefed her of project for Children and Young Adults currently undertaken by LAC in partnership with UNICEF. The task team of the project visited Keffi Custodial Centre on the 6th of October 2023 and it was discovered that there was the need for the Chief Judge to visit the Centre to review some of the cases of awaiting trial inmates in the facility.
In response the CJ commended LAC and most especially Mr. Hambal Zubair (LAC Nassarawa state Coordinator) on the good job he is doing. The CJ also promised to make residential accommodation available for NYSC Lawyers assigned to LAC in the state and equally give them monthly allowances. In addition she promised to facilitated repair and release of a fairly used Bus to LAC in the state.
On the cases of Children and young Adults in Custodial Centre, she promised to review their cases and that a Borstal home is to be commissioned soon in the state for children and women charged for simple offences.
The DG was equally hosted and interviewed by NTA Lafia “Talking Point” weekly program.
The DG equally visited the newly acquired LAC office at the Federal Secretariat Lafia.
