From Death Row to Freedom

Usman Mohammed Exaro was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court 3, Minna on 10th Dec 2020. Not being satisfied with the judgement, an Appeal was filed at the Court of Appeal Abuja by the Council. One of the grounds of appeal amongst others was that the charge sheet was neither signed nor dated by the State Counsel. The Court of Appeal allowed the Appeal. The convict was discharged and acquitted 22nd Dec 2021. On 31/1/2022, his release was secured from Minna New Custodial Centre. Mohd Exaro is in the middle flanked by the Niger State Coordinator, Mrs B.O. Jibogun, the Welfare Officer Minna New Custodial Centre, Barristers Asmau Baderinwa and Labesa Abigail of LACON Niger State Office.
