The Minna Emirate Council Anti Thuggery, Drugs & Substance Abuse Committee recently paid a courtesy visit to the Minna Office of the Council on Friday, 25th October 2024. This visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the Council and the Minna Emirate Council in addressing youth restiveness, thuggery, and substance abuse. The committee also sought to provide legal services to those arrested and on trial.
As part of their efforts, the committee requested a meeting with the Emir of Minna, which was graciously approved by His Majesty. This meeting highlights the Emir’s commitment to tackling the issues of thuggery and substance abuse in the region.
In fact, the Emir of Minna had previously inaugurated a 31-man committee on anti-thuggery and substance abuse to address these concerns. This committee’s work is crucial in combating the growing problem of substance abuse in Nigeria, particularly among youths.
Key Issues Addressed:
– Youth Restiveness and Thuggery: The committee aims to create awareness and provide solutions to address youth involvement in thuggery.
– Substance Abuse: The committee seeks to combat the growing problem of substance abuse, particularly with regards to tramadol and codeine.
– Legal Services: The committee provides legal support to those arrested and on trial, ensuring they receive fair treatment.
By working together, the Minna Emirate Council and the committee hope to create a safer and more supportive environment for the youth in the region.
