The Department of International Operations of the Council was created in the year 2008. The Department plays an important role in the Council as it is the liaison between International Agencies and the Council.

Functions include:

1. The Department advises the Council in issues involving working with International Agencies;
2. The Department represents the Council in meetings and conferences of International Agencies or Bodies; and
3. Liaising with DFID, UNDP, UNODC, ECOWAS, EU, etc in respect of aid and assistance for programmes and activities of the Council.
