PLANNING RESEARCH & STATISTICS

The Planning, Research, and Statistics Department is one of the service departments of the Council. It focuses on matters relating to policy formulation, data collection, analysis, storage and dissemination, programme/project design, performance monitoring and evaluation, rolling plan preparation as well as external relations. By extension, the Department is the think tank of the Council as its functions cut across other Departments and Units of the Council.

Functions include:

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation of all the Projects and Programmes being implemented by the Council;
  2. Responsible for data gathering, collation analysis, storage, and statistics relating to the Council’s operations;
  3. Drawing up plans for the Council (Action Plans and Work Plans);
  4. Participating in the activities of the Procurement Planning Committee and the Council’s Tenders Board;
  5. Management of Council’s records and information resources (data bank, computer services, registry, library, website, etc);
  6. Research into the Council’s organization and operation modalities;
  7. Setting and Monitoring of Performance and Efficiency Targets;
  8. Continuous collaboration and processing of data relating to the Council and its Zonal and State Offices;
  9. Liaison with other Government Agencies;
  10. Coordination of the Council’s Call Centre;
  11. Preparation of Annual Reports and the Director-General’s Press Briefing Texts; and
  12. Any other duties assigned by the Director-General.
