CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION

1. Must be called to the Nigerian Bar.

2. Willing to render Pro Bono Legal Services on behalf of the Legal Aid Council.

3.At least One (1) year experience Post Call in Legal Practice Particularly Criminal Justice Litigation.

4. Possess a Working knowledge of the relevant laws in criminal and civil litigation.

5. Organizations, Law Firms and NGO's are eligible to apply - Lawyers in organizations shall make independent applications and reference their principals as applicable.

  1. I wish  and elect to handle cases Pro Bono on behalf of the Legal Aid Council.
  2. I shall diligently undertake cases assigned by the Council free of any charges.
  3. I shall ensure due diligence in cases handled Pro Bono by me, with the same propriety as to cases for which payments are received.
  4. I shall render free legal services in matters before the court to completion.
  5. I shall elect to further prosecute cases on appeal Pro Bono up to the Supreme Court at my discretion and upon assignment by the Legal Aid Council.
  6. I understand and consent that the Legal Aid Council has the power and discretion to withdraw any case assigned for lack of due diligence in handling of cases.
